What began as an idea among colleagues in the early 1980s went on to become a success story. “In 1982, I founded Excom with two colleagues – with the aim not simply of being a distributor, but of establishing brands in Switzerland,” recalls Beni Götti. As an exclusive partner of Epson and later Eizo, Excom quickly made a name for itself and played a decisive role in shaping the Swiss market for computer and display technology. This entrepreneurial success eventually led to the construction of the company’s own building in Wädenswil, which was occupied in 1986.
Excom gave rise to Sereba Immobilien AG, which remains the owner of the site to this day. Looking ahead, the desire to completely renovate the building grew. “My aim was to modernise the building in such a way that people would later say: ‘That’s a new building’,” says Götti.

The renovation followed a clear approach: first the building structure, then the technical systems. Working with the architect, the building envelope was made more energy-efficient, radiators were removed, and new façade and window solutions were installed. “I quickly realised that I would have to take the initiative myself if I really wanted to implement an environmentally friendly solution,” explains Beni Götti.
Once the building envelope was complete, the key question of heating and cooling arose – particularly for a modernised existing building.
Getting in touch with Zehnder opened up a whole new perspective. Avni Kosumi, sales representative at Zehnder Switzerland, explains how the initial idea took shape and how visiting completed projects proved to be the deciding factor.
