Ursapharm Arzneimittel GmbH is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ophthalmic medicines. In 2016, the pharmaceutical company’s ever-expanding business operations necessitated an expansion of its logistics facilities, leading to the construction of a new high-bay warehouse and an adjacent bulk storage facility with a total floor area of 5,900 m². These warehouses have specific requirements: the annual average temperature deviation from the setpoint in a high-bay warehouse must not exceed ± 1 °C. In addition, the relative humidity must remain within a range of 20 to 65%. The solution: a comprehensive sensor system combined with Zehnder radiant ceiling panels.
Radiant ceiling panels allow for low flow temperatures, thereby achieving particularly high energy efficiency.
Sophisticated measurement technology confirms that the required temperature stability has been maintained. Over the two-year measurement period, there were no deviations from the optimum temperature of 22.5 °C, within a tolerance of ± 1 °C.
This prevents heat from building up under the ceiling and ensures better smoke extraction in the event of a fire. Conventional smoke detectors are sufficient; there is no need for an expensive fire alarm system.
For heating in winter mode, the radiant ceiling panels are operated at a maximum flow temperature of 38 °C, and for cooling in summer mode at a flow temperature of 16 °C.
