Zehnder design grilles

Where clean air meets clean design

Grilles are the only visible part of a ventilation system, so we believe they should do more than function well. They should fit beautifully into your home. That’s exactly what this new portfolio was designed to do.

It consists of two distinct lines: the Classic Line, with familiar forms, clean geometry and timeless finishes, and the Design Line, which adds a more expressive look with like high-gloss plexiglass. Each grille is carefully developed to perform quietly, install seamlessly and enhance the space it lives in.

Along the way, we involved potential users: homeowners, installers, planners and architects. Their input did more than confirm which styles people liked most. It helped us spot the designs with real potential.

This page invites you to discover the story behind the grilles; how they were developed, what sets them apart and why airflow has never looked this good.

We wanted each grille to feel like a part of the interior, not just a technical detail. Something that works quietly and looks like it belongs.

Classic line

What’s the idea behind it?

The Classic Line is our response to a portfolio that had become too fragmented, full of inconsistencies and legacy designs. Project Forest gave us the chance to rebuild, with a cleaner, more logical range that works across markets.

We kept the Italian city names for familiarity, but new designs like Milano and Bologna now raise the bar for the entire Classic Line assortment. They set a new standard in both appearance and performance; combining familiar forms with smarter detailing and lower pressure drop.

Here’s what makes this range a clear step forward:

Installation without surprises

We’ve kept the mounting methods that installers know, but added a few smart improvements. Every piece installs smoothly, stays put and holds up over time. Even on imperfect walls or ceilings.

Every pattern in every shape and finish

Every pattern is available in all shapes: round and rectangular, and in two finishes: white matte and stainless steel. No more mismatched combinations.

More logic, less legacy

We’ve cleaned up overlapping variants and dropped exotic outliers with low volume and high complexity.

Familiar, but better

ComfoGrid Milano

Inspired by timeless Italian design, the Milano blends soft curves with clean round perforations. Designed with a subtle 3D pattern and a dot/line line signature, it’s the modern evolution of our best-seller, Venezia. Just like its namesake city, Milano mixes classic taste with bold functionality.

A floral twist on fresh air

ComfoGrid Bologna

Meet Bologna. The floral hole pattern echoes classic architecture. Think countryside villas or high-ceilinged townhouses. Designed with renovation projects in mind, it offers standout airflow performance. It’s the quietest grille in the line, thanks to its generous open surface.

Is it for you?

This range is aimed mostly at installers and contractors working in new-build single-family homes, especially in countries like Germany, Switzerland and Italy, where grilles play a more prominent role in the ventilation setup.

These are professionals who value the visual impact of a design that looks more modern and more thought through, but above all the practical benefits: products that install easily, fit well and perform reliably.

Design line

What’s the idea behind it?

The Design Line gave us space to try something bolder. We explored new shapes, materials and ways to let the grille stand out instead of blend in.

Not every idea made it, but one unexpected success was the glass-edge frame, originally a workaround from a supplier. It ended up being the perfect way to visually separate this line from the rest. The names are different too. They are drawn from gemstones to match the more refined, elegant feel.

Here’s what makes this range different from rest:

Distinctive look and feel

These grilles make a visual statement. From the carefully designed patterns to the sleek glass frame, they’re meant to be seen—not hidden.

Higher-end materials and finishing

The glass trim isn’t just for show. It gives each product more presence and sharpens the lines. That small detail helps justify a different position and price point.

Designed to start conversations

Not every customer will choose a Design Line grille, but everyone will notice it. Even if they end up selecting a more moderate option, this line elevates the entire range.

A bold gem with a sharp edge

ComfoGrid Rubino

Rubino makes a statement. Its hexagonal hole pattern and high-gloss plexiglass finish give it a jewel-like presence. It’s inspired by the ruby: bold, angular and unforgettable. A true conversation starter for interiors that don’t play it safe.

ComfoGrid Topazio

Topazio brings balance to your interior. Its minimalist lines and translucent frame evoke the clarity of topaz, elegant but grounded. Topazio’s beauty lies in its symmetry, simplicity and ability to fit effortlessly into modern living.

Quiet luxury with a cool edge

ComfoGrid Zaffiro

Zaffiro, Italian for sapphire, reflects depth, calm and clarity. It’s a cool grille with a warm soul. Its rectangular shape and smooth plexiglass edges offer a subtle contrast that lifts any room. Like the gem it’s named after, Zaffiro feels timeless and precious.

Is it for you?

The Design Line is for those spaces and clients where visual impact matters just as much as airflow. Think architects, interior designers, high-end renovation projects or homeowners looking to upgrade more than just performance.

The quantities may be lower, but the expectations are higher. While the
glass-edge frame of the Design Line brings elegance and distinction, it does come with one limitation: these grilles aren’t suitable for floor installation, which is why we do not offer a CLF version.

The raised glass edge could cause someone to trip or hurt themselves on the sharp corners. There is also a higher chance the finish may get scratched or damaged by shoes, furniture or cleaning equipment.

Created to be seen
Our grilles combine outstanding design with lasting performance. Each piece is carefully crafted to complement any interior — turning functional ventilation into a design feature that enhances the space.

Behind the grille – smart design meets convenience

Smart QR technology

Each grille includes a discreet QR code for quick filter tracking and easy reordering. Maintenance reminders are now just a scan away.

Simple service management

Every product comes with an ownership card — a handy place to record filter changes and installer details for future service needs.

Optimised filter design

Our new square-shaped filters reduce material waste and feature a larger surface area, capturing more dust and lasting longer.

Innovative performance

We’re developing an accordion-style filter design for even better dust retention and extended filter life — ensuring lasting performance.

Pinned to perfection – smarter, stronger connections

Every detail matters. Our updated TVA frame now uses a single central pin — no glue, no hassle — for faster installation and a secure, sustainable fit.
Made from durable recycled polymer, it replaces older materials to reduce environmental impact while improving performance and longevity.
Because with Zehnder, even the smallest parts are designed to make a big difference.

Airflow matters – efficient performance through smart design

What is pressure drop?
Pressure drop is the resistance air meets as it passes through a grille or valve. The lower the pressure drop, the more freely air flows — reducing energy use and ensuring quieter operation.

Our latest ComfoGrid designs are engineered for smoother airflow and improved efficiency, outperforming previous models while maintaining Zehnder’s signature balance of comfort and performance.

Note: Luna valves use a different airflow principle (the Coanda effect), creating a unique air distribution while achieving similarly efficient results.
